Then, a loop with a little more ascent lets you extend the adventure by visiting the charming hamlet of Puy le Haut. This hike, averaging 2h25, is ideal for exploring the beauty of the region.

This 13.42 km loop allows you to explore the Oisan with views of the Meije, and the Aiguilles d’Arves, symbol of the Maurienne. You can also contemplate the Grandes Rousses massif, the Belledonne chain, the Taillefer massif and finally the Emparis plateau.

 

The Auris chapels trail offers magnificent views of the Massif des Ecrins and La Meije, as well as the Bourg-Oisans valley. You’ll see 4 chapels: the hamlet of Cours, the hamlet of Cluy, the chapel of Saint-Géraud and the chapel in the hamlet of Certs. If you’d like to extend your hike, there are several possible variations. You can also set off from the resort, and with family or friends, take advantage of the many picnic areas.

 

Discover part of the Auris hillside on this 11.92 km hike, passing through hamlets with magnificent views of the mountains and valley. The climb up to Piégut above the resort is the only relatively short difficulty, and the rest of the route follows delightful paths.

This 8.80 km hike offers magnificent 360° views of many of the surrounding mountains, including the Grandes Rousses, Belledonne, Taillefer, Rochail, Muzelle, Mont de Lans Glacier, Meije, Aiguilles d’Arves and even Mont Blanc in the distance. Explore this route between the resorts of Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes. The place chosen by César-François CASSINI to map the Massif des Ecrins is a historic site.

 

Follow this trail for 8.93 km, above Lac de Chambon with its magnificent scenery. You’ll see glaciers such as Glacier de Girose, Pic de la Grave, Râteau and the majestic Meije. Finally, at the start of the Emparis plateau, you’ll arrive at the refuge des Mouterres, with its many bivouac sites and exceptional panoramic views of the Meije.

 

Discover this wild and impressive route along the waterfalls of the Rochail stream, crossing a “monkey bridge” footbridge. The trail is quite steep, with a few aerial and cabled passages, so be well equipped. At the end of this 4-hour hike, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the Oisans.
